Katie & Mackie forever <33 I just adore these two and how joyous their marriage celebration was. They found me online, inquired on the day of a friend's wedding (that I shamelessly did respond to in the wee hours of the night because I could tell from their questionnaire, we'd be a great fit), and we met up for the first time in Columbus, OH, where they call home.

We captured their engagement photos at one of their favorite spots, Understory, where Mackie asked Katie's father for her hand in marriage. We then off-roaded along the Oletangy River and shared plenty of stories and laughs. These will forever be some of my favorite portraits documented because now a year later, after witnessing their wedding day and getting to know them more, these images really truly capture their essence: fun-loving, at-ease, gentle, simply enamored with each other.

Fast forward to 2024 - we shared the same wedding month! Frank and I wed in early June - and Katie and Mackie's was on the last weekend of an amazing month. Planning our weddings in parallel was an experience that I think I can speak for both of us, made the "vendor-client" relationship feel like a friendship. Katie was one of the first to text me on my wedding day! The best part of this job is the connections made, it's how I can best serve you and most authentically document your day.

Let's start with the night before, the rehearsal dinner at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto on Mount Washington. Katie and Mackie wanted to give their families a taste of Pittsburgh throughout their wedding weekend, so what better place to start than this amazing view of the skyline!

Onto their wedding day! Katie & Mackie booked my comprehensive wedding day package - To Have & To Hold - which included full day coverage, a second photographer, loads of film, and a keepsake collection (stay until the end for the reveal of what that includes!). So I arrived in the morning in the middle of her hair styling, before makeup even began. This gave me time to play with details, photograph sweet moments as they were happening, and do so on 3-4 different cameras.
I parked at the Carnegie Museum so I'd be closer to my car at the end of the night, so I arrived super early and had a nice relaxing walk around Heinz Chapel and past some gorgeous flowers to the Oaklander Hotel.

Heirloom Print Collection

Happy mail for the newlyweds! After their gallery delivery, I shared a questionnaire with album options for Katie & Mackie to choose from, as well as options for how involved they wanted to be in the process. They chose a 90-page album with a photo-wrapped cover, opted to curate a collection of their favorites for me to choose from, and wanted to meet to review the album's design before it went to print. We met up and spent about an hour going through each page and reliving the day. The couple as well as myself (!!) found some new favorite images through this process. In their shipment, I included a few more goodies, like prints of those aforementioned new favorites, polaroids I had snapped throughout the day, and their 35mm/120 film negative binder preserved in protective sheets.
Your wedding photos deserve to live beyond your screen. That’s always been my philosophy, and why I’m so excited to debut my client-exclusive printing options. As your photographer, I believe it’s my role to both encourage you to print heirloom-quality images and to be the one who makes it easy/accessible to do so. Inquire with me to book a photographer who deeply cares about your story and will deliver a gallery that invites you to relive your best day forevermore.
